    Battle of Britain

The Mayor represented Wells at a service to commemorate the Battle of Britain on Sunday 15th September at St Johns Church in Glastonbury. The Last Post was played and a two-minute silence was observed followed by the laying of wreaths. The event was organised by Group Captain Dick Whittingham and his team at the Mid-Somerset Branch of RAFA. The Mayor was accompanied by her two Cadets, Sergeant Marshall-Smith who carried the wreath and Corporal Colwill of 1955 City of Wells Squadron Air Training Corps. The dignity and respect displayed by all the Cadets  impressed everybody at the service and they were wonderful ambassadors for the young people of our City.
