Wells Town Hall is a wonderful venue set in the heart of Somerset and is suitable for weddings, marriages and civil ceremonies. It can host anything from a small intimate affair in the Mayor’s Parlour for 18, to a large glamorous wedding reception for up to 120 guests.
Wedding Rooms
We currently have three marriage rooms:
The Main Hall
The Main Hall can seat up to 180 guests for the ceremony and up to 120 guests for receptions (including tabled and a dance floor.
This room is described as "The finest public room in Somerset" and is the largest room to have permission for wedding ceremonies. This beautiful room is situated on the first floor (accessible by lift) and has walls lined with portraits; the room is lit by two crystal chandeliers.
In addition to being fully equipped for the conduct of marriage ceremonies, the Town Hall recently refurbished it's kitchen with crockery and cutlery to cater for 120 people.
It is available to hire for dinners, dances, receptions, concerts, fairs & meetings.
The Parkes Room
The Parkes Room can seat up to 70 guests for a ceremony.
This room is situated on the first floor and is accessible by lift should you need it. This is a very light and airy room with its floor-level windows and feature "Venetian" window.
The Mayor's Parlour
The Mayor's Parlour (by kind permission of the Mayor) can seat up to 18 guests for a ceremony.
This room is located on the first floor and is accessible by lift if needed. This traditionally decorated room is steeped in history with many interesting civic artefacts and paintings.
Receptions
After your marriage ceremony, you may also like to have your reception in the Town Hall. We hold a Premises License (covering music, dancing & alcohol) so not only can you toast the bride and groom after the ceremony but you can have a fun filled reception into the evening with your friends and family.
Receptions take place in the main hall where you have access to the spacious kitchen and separate bar area.
You are welcome to bring in outside caterers to prepare your wedding breakfast in the kitchens which are conveniently positioned next to the main hall.
When booking your reception, the following session times apply:
9am-1pm, 1pm-6pm or 6pm-11.30pm
Please talk to the Town Hall Manager who is able to discount when booking two sessions or more.
