The Mayor of Wells, Councillor Jasmine Browne, held an afternoon tea party for the Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition winners on Friday 10th January. The winners were Grace (age 7-9 category) from Wells Cathedral School and Amelia (age 9-11 category) from Stoberry Park School who came to the Mayor’s Parlour for afternoon tea with their parents and teacher as part of their prize. The girls were given a chance to hold the Royal Mace with Mr. Colin Price the Mayor’s mace bearer, sit on Judge Geoffrey’s Chair ( from the Bloody Assizes of 1685) and have a tour of the Town Hall, including the old prison in the basement!
Well done to the winners. Their cards were sent from the Mayor to other cities in England and all all over the world!
