The final function for Philip and Caroline Welch’s 19-month term as Mayor and Mayoress of Wells was a Royal Garden Party in Buckingham Palace. By a happy coincidence it took place on Somerset Day.
“We had a wonderful time,” said Caroline, “despite the unfortunate rain which lasted all afternoon. It was a great honour to be there.”
