The first tree planting in Somerset as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative took place at St Cuthbert’s C of E Junior School in Wells this morning. Attending the event were the Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mrs Annie Maw, with the Mayor and Mayoress of Wells.

This initiative has been created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.

Representatives of all the classes at the school watched the ceremony.
