    Monarch’s Way Association Gift to Wells

    The Mayor and fellow Councillors received the Monarch’s Way Association Gift to Wells- A new sign for the Bishop’s Barn on the Recreation Ground on Sunday 9th June.
    John Tennant, Chair of the Monarch’s Way Association and volunteers Adrian I’Anson, Chris Billinghurst and Graham Allen, presented Wells City Council with one of the new signs for the Monarch’s Way, on Sunday 9 June at the Wells Recreation Ground, in front of the Bishop’s Barn. The map shows the route taken by King Charles 2nd when he fled to the South Coast to get to France, after his defeat by Oliver Cromwell at the Battle of Worcester in 1651, passing through Wells.
    Seen in the photo receiving the sign are Cllr Jasmine Browne, Mayor of Wells, Cllr Philip Welch, Chair of the Bishop’s Barn and Recreation Ground Open Spaces Committee and Cllr Denise Denis, Chair of Wells Planning Committee.
