    Wells Ambassadors Thank You

    Wells Ambassadors Thank You

The Mayor of Wells, Cllr Jasmine Browne, attended an evening reception to thank the Wells Ambassadors for their work in welcoming visitors to our City. Launched in April 2021 by Ross Young, the initiative sees volunteers meeting and greeting visitors to the city, sharing their knowledge and giving advice on all the wonderful things that Wells has to offer.

Most visitors are drawn to Wells by the Cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. But too many leave without seeing St. Cuthbert’s Church, Vicars Close, the Almshouses, Museum, Town Hall, Harry Patch Memorial, Mary Bignall Rand’s Long Jump record and much more! The Wells Ambassadors give maps, advice and directions to visitors and work with the Tourist Information Office in Wells Town Hall. Since April 2024. Visitors to Wells have been able to buy one ticket which provides access to both the Cathedral and Bishops Palace. The combination ticket gives visitors a significant discount on the cost of separate admission and includes day entry to both major attractions. Wells Ambassadors and the Tourist Information have done a wonderful job in promoting the new ticket to visitors and it has been reported to be a great success.

As well as thanking the volunteer team for giving their time, energy and enthusiasm to the City, the Mayor also praised ‘Visit by Coach’ organiser, Ross Young after Wells won the Coach Friendly Destination Award at the British Coach Tourism Awards ceremony for the second year running - the first destination to do so.

    Well done Wells!
