The Mayor of Wells, Councillor Jasmine Browne, visited the Wells Painting Group Art Exhibition at Wells Museum on Saturday 26th October. Pictured here with Karen Young, Chair of Wells Painting Group, the Mayor spent time viewing the work of 30 artists from Wells and the surrounding areas.
Wells Painting Group meet every Monday morning in term time in St Thomas' Church Hall in Wells. Some members are semi-professional but most simply paint as a hobby and enjoy being with other artists to share ideas and experience.
In general, members choose their own subject matter and work at their own pace. All art styles are welcome from oils or water-colours, acrylics or pastels, colour pencil or pen and ink, graphite or charcoal and are beautifully showcased at twice-yearly exhibitions.
The Mayor is always keen to support local groups and local talent.
