Chewton Mendip Primary School visits The Mayor of Wells

Chewton Mendip Primary School visits The Mayor of Wells

The first of the Mayor’s Afternoon Tea for Schools took place for Members of the School Council of Chewton Mendip School on Thursday 18th July. The children from the School Council were given a tour of the Town Hall by the Town Crier, Mr. Len Sweales and then had afternoon tea in the Mayor’s Parlour with Cllr Jasmine Browne, Mayor of Wells. The catering was kindly provided by The Swan Hotel. The children learnt about some of the history of Wells, sat on the executioner’s chair and visited the old prison cells in the basement. The Town Crier is pictured here with with Headteacher Mrs Duggan and KS2 teacher, Mrs Breland.
All Wells and surrounding village schools are invited to bring their School Council Members for a History tour and tea hosted by the Mayor. Please e-mail reception@wells.gov.uk to ask for available dates.
