    Christmas Eve Community Gathering

    Christmas Eve Community Gathering

The Mayor held a Christmas gathering on Christmas Eve in the Westwood Room of the Town Hall for those in our community who may have been alone over the festivities. The idea was proposed to Wells City Council by Cllr Georgie Robbins and the Mayor who, with the support of other Councillors, put on a Christmas buffet with sparkling wine, crackers, Christmas presents and entertainment from children from the Blue School and Stoberry Park School under the direction of Jill Edmonds and Wells Cathedral Song Squad.

So many people helped to make this a community event - those who donated wonderful presents, Tescos Wells champion Caleb Baker, Christine from Wells U3A for organising invitations, Sue Glendinning from Wells City Council for coordinating and sending invitations, Kevin Westwood for designing and printing invitations, Cllr Philip Welch for organising the Wells Community Network Trishaw to help bring people to the Town Hall, the Councillors who donated food and drink and those who came along to support the event, Glenn at the Town Hall who gave up his time to open the hall, the Town Clerk and Town Hall Manager for agreeing for the use of the Town Hall during normal closure time, Cllr Georgie Robbins and Lucy Frost for the food and making sure all dietary requirements were met, all the children of Wells who wrote cheerful Christmas cards.

The Mayor sends her thanks to you all.
