The Mayor of Wells had the honour of laying a wreath on behalf of the City of Wells in memory of those who gave their lives in the service of our country. A service was held at our parish church of St. Cuthbert’s, led by Rev Sam Denyer with a poetry reading by a member of the 5th/7th Wells Scout Group (the Mayor’s Charity this year). Accompanied by Ted Allen, Vice Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, the Mayor then took the salute at the parade along Wells High Street. The Mayor’s wreath was carried by her two cadets, Flight Officer Marshall-Smith age 15 and Corporal Colwill, age 16. A huge public presence made it a very special occasion for our city and the Mayor was particularly impressed by the number of young people of Wells, estimated at just over 100 who took part in the event. A very proud day for Wells. Lest We Forget.
